The Saturday Project : Getting to grips with your new Sewing machine

  • Colour and Cloth 140 Roslyn Street Belfast, Northern Ireland, BT6 8JL United Kingdom (map)

This is a 3 hour project based workshop on a Saturday afternoon, Each week a different project is embraced. The workshops are priced individually.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and if you are reading this you were perhaps a lucky enough to find a new sewing machine in your Christmas stocking!  If it is your first machine, or maybe an upgrade from a previous machine and it is still sitting in its box, you need to book yourself an afternoon at this class.

You could read the manual of course, but what fun would that be! This afternoon class will have you finding your feet, selecting your stitches and whizzing your way around your own machine in no time! We will cover troubleshooting, the best needles to use for the job in hand, the best thread choices for the fabric. Please bring your own machine , foot pedal, instructions and accessories to the class.  A notepad, pencil and a camera will also be useful.

Christine teaches with patience, enthusiasm, encouragement and experience at every step. Our N.I Sewing Bee Angeline Murphy was once one of her dressmaking students. She has over 25 years experience in fashion, costume, and self employment in Northern Ireland.  Her mum taught her to sew when she was 6.

Class sizes are limited to 5 people so that learning is focused and fun.
