Introduction to the Overlocker

  • Colour and Cloth 140 Roslyn Street Belfast, Northern Ireland, BT6 8JL United Kingdom (map)

This is a 4 hour project based workshop showing you the basics of your overlocker, troubleshooting and how to use it on different fabrics.

Did you join the queue and get a shiny new Singer Overlocker from Lidl and are itching to find out what it can do? This evening class will have you whizzing your way around your own overlocker in no time! We will cover troubleshooting, the best needles to use for the job in hand, the best thread choices for the fabric. Please bring your own overlockerfoot pedal, instructions and accessories to the class.  A notepad, pencil and a camera will also be useful. Please also bring 4 cones or spools of good thread. Please bring a selection of fabrics that you intend to use in your practise.

Christine teaches with patience, enthusiasm, encouragement and experience at every step. Our N.I Sewing Bee Angeline Murphy was once one of her dressmaking students. She has over 25 years experience in fashion, costume, and self employment in Northern Ireland.  Her mum taught her to sew when she was 6.

Class sizes are limited to 5 people so that learning is focused and fun.  There must be a minimum of 3 people booked for a class to run.

This 4 hour class will include a 15 minute refreshment break.
