I love seeing my students confidence soar with their sewing skills.  This 8 week course is the next step after Level 1 Beginners.  if you already know your way around a sewing machine and have the basic skills of hems and seams under your belt then this course is for you.  It aims to take it up a notch, focusing on improving your existing skills and learning lots of new ones. And always with lots of designer / maker tips thrown in for good measure!  Each class is 2 1/2 hours long which allows plenty of time to get stuck in and complete each weeks project.  Time tends to fly in when your sewing!

Christine teaches with patience, enthusiasm, encouragement and experience at every step.  Our N.I Sewing Bee Angeline Murphy was once one of her dressmaking students. She has over 25 years experience in fashion, costume, and self employment in Northern Ireland.  Her mum taught her to sew when she was 6.

We will cover the following:

Removing fullness with darts, gathers and pleats.

How to insert an invisible zip, sew on a button and make a buttonhole.

Bias binding: My favourite! From shop bought to making your own.

Focus on fabrics, how to sew stretch, sequin, leather....making informed choices when purchasing cloth.

Choosing a pattern for you : Get informed so you get it right.

By the end of the 8 weeks you will be armed with lots of new skills, perfecting those already learnt and will have completed an intermediate level pattern in your chosen cloth.

All machines are provided and there is 1 overlocker.  All machines are domestic.  You are welcome to bring your own machine if you prefer.

A small list will be given out at the first class. Please bring a notepad and camera / phone for taking notes.

Class sizes are limited to 4 people so that learning is focused and fun. There must be a minimum of 2 people booked on for the class to run.
